Swat Teachers Program for the USA
Eligibility Criteria
- Be of good reputation and character
- Have a Degree equivalent to a U.S. Bachelor’s Degree in either Education or relevant Field
- Have a minimum of 2 years teaching or related prefessional experience
- Be proficient in English using the following minimum benchmarks:
TOEFL – 84 Overall
IELTS – Band 6 or Higher
PTE Academic – 55 Overal
Be working as a teacher at the time of application, or
- Meet the qualifications for teaching in his or her home country
- Have at least 2 years of full time teaching experience in the past eight years
- Have completed an advanced degree within 12 months of application
Full Placement Fees
- 1-12 Months $2800 $/year after 12 Months: $1250 Registration Fee $40
Self Placement Fees
- 1-12 Months $1800 $/year after 12 Months: $1250 Registration Fee $40
Application Process
Application Requirements

- Passport
- 2 Reference Letters written within the last 12 months
- One (1) Letter from a school administrator on official letterhead, where the participant taught full time that acknowledges they are willing to take part in a cross-cultural activity (i.e.virtual exchange)
- A copy of a degree equivalent to a U.S. Bachelor’s Degree
- Proof of qualification to teach in home country (i.e. licenses/certificates with English Translation)
- A Foreign Credential Evaluation (FCE)
Benefits of the program
- Receive 1-3 Year J-1 Teacher Visa with optional 2 Years extension
- Engage in 2 Cross Cultural Acitivities Per Year where you share your culture with others
- Teachers can expect to earn the same salary as their american counterparts ranging from $35-50k USD/year
- Teachers can travel with dependents (children under 21 and spouce)
- Spouse can apply for an Employment Authorization Document (EAD) that grants them permission to work while on a J-2 visa
